1. UPI Transactions Cross 20 Billion in August 2025
India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI), managed by NPCI, recorded 20.01 billion transactions in August 2025 – the first time crossing the 20 billion mark.
- 34% YoY growth (14.9 billion in Aug 2024).
- Transaction value rose 21% YoY to ₹24.85 lakh crore.
- Around 645 million transactions processed daily (₹80,177 crore value).
2. CCI Approves Manipal Hospitals’ Acquisition of Sahyadri Hospitals
The Competition Commission of India approved the acquisition of up to 100% shareholding of Sahyadri Hospitals Pvt Ltd by Manipal Hospitals Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of MHEPL.
3. CRISIL Maintains India’s GDP Forecast at 6.5% for FY26
Credit rating agency CRISIL has maintained India’s GDP growth forecast for FY 2025-26 at 6.5%.
4. APEDA Launches BHARATI Initiative to Boost Agri-Food Exports
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) launched the BHARATI initiative (Bharat’s Hub for Agritech, Resilience, Advancement & Incubation for Export Enablement).
- Empowers 100 agri-food and agri-tech startups.
- Target: $50 billion agri-food exports by 2030.
- Launched during meeting chaired by Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
5. President of India Attends AIISH Diamond Jubilee
President Droupadi Murmu attended the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of AIISH, Mysuru. Established in 1965, AIISH is a premier institute for training and research in communication disorders.
6. AISATS Becomes First Ground Handling Company with DGCA Clearance
Air India SATS became the first ground handling company in India to receive DGCA safety clearance. India is now the 2nd country in APAC (after Malaysia) to adopt such a framework.
7. MHA Extends Deadline for CAA Registration
The Ministry of Home Affairs extended the CAA cut-off date to 31 December 2024 (earlier 2014). Beneficiaries include persecuted minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
8. Textiles Ministry Launches Kapas Kisan App
Union Minister Giriraj Singh launched the Kapas Kisan App developed by CCI to streamline MSP cotton procurement.
- Features: self-registration, slot booking, payment tracking.
- Available in multiple Indian languages.
9. Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) 2025 Report
- Air pollution reduces India’s life expectancy by 3.5 years.
- NCR worst hit: 8.2 years lost.

10. NCC Thal Sainik Camp 2025
A total of 1,546 cadets from 17 NCC directorates are participating in the 12-day Thal Sainik Camp at Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi. Activities include obstacle training, map reading, and competitions.
11. Indian Navy First Training Squadron in Seychelles
INS Tir, INS Shardul, and CGS Sarathi of the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron arrived at Port Victoria, Seychelles on a long-range training deployment.
12. India–Thailand Joint Military Exercise Maitree-XIV
The 14th edition of Exercise Maitree began in Umroi, Meghalaya with participation from 120 personnel of the Madras Regiment.
13. India–USA Joint Military Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025
The 21st edition of Exercise Yudh Abhyas between India and USA started at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Last edition was held in Rajasthan (2024).
14. Sukhmal Chand Jain Appointed CMD of RVNL
Sukhmal Chand Jain has been appointed as Chairman & Managing Director of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, succeeding Pradeep Gaur.
15. RBI Approves R Gandhi’s Reappointment as Yes Bank Chairman
The RBI approved the reappointment of Rama Subramaniam Gandhi as Non-Executive Chairman of Yes Bank till May 2027. He previously served as RBI Deputy Governor (2014–2017).
